With some exciting action across all cards this afternoon racing enthusiasts look set for a late January treat. I myself will be attending the Rochdale vs Bury derby match and therefore I am disappointed to be missing the live racing action. I look forward to returning home later this evening and watching all the big races in full with the added optimism that I may be able to strike with one of my likeable selections.

Blog will be updated later today
As I was otherwise engaged yesterday evening a late start means a late update. We should be online by 1PM and I am hopeful of finding solid selections in all of today's big races from Cheltenham, Doncaster and Leopardstown.
Please check back in a short while.

Thyestes Handicap Chase - The Bet
Gowran Park hosts the highlight of the midweek racing scene where on Thursday they host the annual running of the Goffs Thyestes Handicap Chase (Grade A). A commanding spectacle run over a distance of 3 miles where a mixture of a lighter weight and decisive stamina traits quite regularly help pinpoint the winner.

Ascot & Haydock Predictions and Hopes
An eventful days racing is in store with high class action from Ascot supported by some decent staying types contesting the feature event at Haydock. With the compliments of Betfair I head to Haydock for this afternoons racing but early on I will be intrigued by the coverage from the big screens of those running at Ascot as the Haydock card looks fairly uncompetitive until later in the day.
Hopefully my planned small bets this afternoon yield a profit.

Racing From Kempton and Warwick - Classic Chase and Lanzarote Hurdle Selections
Kempton did not pass an inspection until 11AM so this analysis and write up was delayed until racing was given the go-ahead. Therefore my initial form study has come from Warwick where the Betfred Classic Chase Handicap (Grade 3) is the feature event on the card. This is a race I was lucky enough to safely predict last term with the impressive run given to us in heavy ground by West End Rocker (10-1). With Alan King having trained the past two winners in the race he is seeking the hattrick this time around courtesy of the very well backed Blazing Bailey (Pricewise selection). I hope to offer an alternative viewpoint on this race though and a quality mixture of bets for other televised markets so please stay right here for your betting inspiration.

The Sack Race - Which Prem Manager Will Be Next After Warnock?
It is the time of year when football chairmen and fellow board members get twitchy with a mindset for change and as a result the Sack Race betting market hots up considerably. Only last week Neil Warnock became the 2nd Premiership Manager to lose his job this season, hot on the heels of Steve Bruce of Sunderland and unlike many I had predicted it via a small 11-1 wager only a week previously (mentioned on Twitter). The simple facts were that QPR remained winless in EIGHT games and had slipped to an uninspiring 17th position in the Barclays Premiership. It was ridiculous for many to consider his job safe based upon his efforts and success of the season before. A new owner and wealth had generated new ambition and Neil Warnock was far from the ideal figurehead to inspire prospective new signings or present star players.

Racing On Saturday From Sandown
I am not heavily involving myself in horse racing this weekend due to sporadic bets that I have produced on other events so far this week. There are some races of interest at Sandown and possible outsider value bets in a couple of these races.
FA CUP - Accumulator Time for Round 3!
I have armed my betting account with some accumulators for this weekend as the magic of the FA CUP third round is on the horizon. There is also some value on offer at Ladbrokes so please read on for details.

BDO Darts World Championships 2012 - The Value Picks
The BDO Darts World Championship is the sporting highlight for the television license fee paying public over the next nine days as competition begins on Saturday culminating in a Sunday 15th of January final. Usually known for being the subordinate sister event of the more skilled PDC World Championship that precedes it on Sky Sports, this year's competition will take place using a Blade 4 dartboard which uses 50% thinner wiring to hopefully increase the averages to at least look moderate overall. Having seen a below par scoring PDC World event over Christmas and New Year any player capable of scoring above 90 for his three dart average this week will have a chance of claiming the title.

Meydan Is BACK!
I am flirting with the idea of a bet at Meydan this evening but I am very cautious as I do not want to be getting overly involved before World Cup night. Last year I only had two individual bets throughout the festival before ploughing into the formbook on Dubai World Cup night itself. Luckily I was on the prowl and clever enough to back outsider Victoire Pisa that evening in what almost a year on is one of the best rides I have ever witnessed in my lifetime.

New Years Day - Novice Invictus Can Thrive In Dipper
We welcome the New Year with a fair standard of racing at Cheltenham with two races on the card springing to mind as potentially rewarding financially should all things go well. The 1.05PM Dipper Novices' Steeple Chase (Grade 2) and the 2.10PM Bet With Your Mobile At Victor Chandler Chase Handicap (Grade 3) are the contests I am happy to discuss in what I hope will be my best write up of 2012 so far!
